The following is a running list of events, businesses and organizations that have announced cancellations, closures or postponements due to COVID-19. The Daughters of The Nile Jewels in The Wilderness Club, Draw License #808256, will be unable to complete their Draw on May 8, 2020, due to Covid-19 restrictions. A notice will be posted when it is safe to return to selling tickets. Please stay safe! Any questions please contact Wendy Baker at 705-227-0613. 

The Order of The Eastern Star, Draw License #M808270, will be unable to complete their Draw on June 4, 2020, due to Covid-19 restrictions. A notice will be posted when it is safe to return to selling tickets. Any questions please contact Morag Vance 705-849-5201.

The Huron Shrine Club, Draw License #M843108, will be unable to complete their Draw on July 11, 2020, due to Covid-19 restrictions. A notice will be posted when it is safe to return to selling tickets. Any questions please contact Dan Berry at 705-848-1590 or Cecil Code at 705-261-3890.

City Hall has reduced hours of operation, cut back services available during opening times.

The Seniors’ Mental Health Program of North Shore Community Support Services is not an emergency service. To alleviate the risk of COVID-19 being transported and spread, our nursing staff will postpone visits/testing/assessments of clients at their respective residence until further notice. The program will resume its regular function when so advised by the Ministry of Health.

As of 8:30 a.m. on March 17, 2020, the Municipality of Huron Shores is suspending public programs and temporarily closing a number of public facilities to promote social distancing and limit the potential spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The following municipal facilities will be closed until April 5, 2020, inclusive:
    •    Ward 1 Little Rapids Community Centre (Iron Bridge)
    •    Ward 2 Sowerby Hall
    •    Ward 3 Iron Bridge Recreation Centre (Arena)
    •    Ward 4 Community Centre and Gym (Dean Lake)
    •    Huron Shores Public Library (Iron Bridge)
    •    All Committee meetings will be suspended

The Deer Trail Curling Club is closed. The situation will be monitored weekly. The curling club will re-open when it is safe to do so.

The Welcome Centre at the Collins Hall is closed until further notice.

Elliot Lake Quilt Guild has suspended all meetings until further notice. 

GoodLife Fitness and Fit4Less are closing all locations across Canada until further notice.

OLG has ordered all Ontario casinos to close. Impacted casinos include Gateway Casinos in Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury. Read more here.

Dr. B. Coccimiglio, Optometrist Elliot Lake office will be closed until March 30.

As of Saturday, March 14, the Elliot Lake Renaissance Active Living Centre has been closed until further notice. All programs and events are now cancelled.

Huron Lodge in Elliot Lake will be closed to all visitors effective Monday, March 16, 2020.

All non-essential visits to St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake are suspended until further notice. Click here for more information.

Blind River March Break activities cancelled including public skating at the arena and library events. Click here for more information.

All municipal recreation and culture facilities and programs in Elliot Lake are cancelled. This includes the municipal pool, arena, Collins Hall (including all March Break programs). Click here for more information.

Students and staff at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Elliot Lake have postponed Epilepsy Awareness Week events which were slated to start March 23 with a flag-raising at City Hall. Additional information can be found here.

All Anglican church services across Ontario cancelled until further notice. Read more here.

Girl Guides have suspended all in-person activities until Tuesday, April 14, beginning immediately.

In-school childcare programming cancelled at ADSB sites; all ADSB programs are cancelled and facilities closed.

All publically funded schools in Ontario will be closed from March 14 to April 5.

The National Hockey League announced that it has postponed the 2019-20 season.

In conjunction with the Canadian Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League season has been "paused immediately until further notice."
