A confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported in the preschool room at the daycare at Algonquin Road Public School.

The information was posted on the Rainbow District School Board’s website Dec. 1.

Relevant staff and the parents/guardians of the children who are required to self-isolate have been notified, said the letter from Rainbow board director of education Norm Blaseg. Public Health Sudbury and Districts will follow up directly with close contacts.

The board said although it does not operate the daycare, “it is an important part of our school community,” and for that reason, the board wanted all parents and guardians to be informed.

“At this time, there has been no public health direction related to the school as a result of the confirmed case at the daycare,” the letter said.

Public Health Sudbury has advised the daycare operator that there is no evidence of transmission at this time.

The daycare remains open, and the before and after school programs continue to operate. Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting will take place throughout the school, including the daycare, before classes begin Dec. 1.

According to the board’s website, the daycare at Algonquin school is operated by Jubilee Heritage Family Resources.
