Man arrested and charged following disturbance on Beckett Boulevard

An Elliot Lake man has been arrested and charged following a disturbance at an apartment on Beckett Boulevard.

East Algoma OPP were called in relation to the disturbance at the apartment at around 7 a.m.

Also called out to the disturbance were the OPP’s canine unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team members (ERT), East Algoma Crime Unit, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS drone), Crisis Negotiators and the Critical Incident Command (CIC).

OPP issued a release around 4 p.m. asking the public to avoid the area. OPP officers were seen leaving the scene around 5 p.m.

According to an OPP statement, “a complainant reported having alcoholic beverages at another apartment with a male who was known to him. The two got into an argument and the male (allegedly) threatened the complainant with a gun.”

The disturbance resulted in Daniel Wursluk, 52, of Elliot Lake being arrested and charged with: careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; pointing a firearm; possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on March 22.
